Terms of Service

Short version: this is a tool for facing your finances honestly. Use it honestly, know what it is and isn't, and we'll get along fine. The longer version follows, and it's written to be read, not skimmed past.

What this is

Back in Black gathers the account and transaction data you import or connect and puts the whole picture in front of you: summaries, categories, debt-payoff plans, and the occasional hard truth. It's an early-stage product, provided as-is, kept running on a best-effort basis. We work to keep it up and accurate; we can't promise perfection, and we won't pretend to.

What this is not: financial advice

The Phoenix has opinions. They're grounded in years of real-world experience managing debt, personally and for family, but they are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and neither is anything else in this product. AI-generated summaries can be wrong, categories can land in the wrong bucket, and a number can be stale or mistaken. Before you act on anything that matters (paying off a card, moving money, making a plan), check it against your own records. The final call is always yours.

Your account, your responsibility

Keep your password to yourself; what happens under your login is yours. And your account stays yours in the fullest sense: you can delete it, and everything in it, at any time from Settings. No exit interview, no lingering copies.

Play it straight

Connect and import only financial data you're entitled to. Don't poke at other people's data, and don't try to break the service. We built this to help people climb out of debt, not to referee mischief.

Privacy

How we handle your data, including what we'll never do with it, lives in the Privacy Policy. Which providers do the processing under the hood, the AI provider included, lives on the Data Processing page, so we can name the current crew there without rewriting promises here. Both are part of these terms.

Changes

The product is evolving, and these terms will evolve with it. When something material changes, this page and the date at the top will say so, plainly, like everything else here.
